Happy Birthday Teletubbies! | Quote: | Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po - who are collectively known as the Teletubbies - are 10 years old.
Produced in Warwickshire, the colourful children's TV programme has become a worldwide phenomenon.
The antics of the colourful characters are screened in 120 countries and translated into 45 languages.
Anne Wood, from Gloucestershire, created the Teletubbies with Andy Devonport. They said they never imagined how popular it would become.
"As far as we were concerned, it was just a little telly programme for pre-school children.
"I just think, how lovely, if you don't do anything else in your entire life," said Andy Devonport.
Worldwide celebrations
"You had this response from all over the world that made children feel a little happier... and parents," said Anne Wood.
To celebrate 10 years of success, Teletubby events are taking place worldwide - in the US and in the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Holland, and China.
Pop star Britney Spears was pictured hugging a Teletubby on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, film star Angelina Jolie went Teletubby shopping for her children and Johnny Depp said his family were big fans of the programme.
The Teletubbies have also been spoofed on The Simpsons, Saturday Night Live, the Scary Movies series and The Vicar Of Dibley.
The location for their activities is a field at Wimpstone, near Stratford-upon-Avon, a few miles from where Ragdoll Productions make the programmes.

Blimey, 10 years old! Mind you I shouldn't really be surprised by that because my eldest daughter who's now 11 used to love watching and had all things Teletubby in her room, my youngest daughter also caught the bug but perhaps not on as grand a scale!
